ಪೋಯಮ್ಸ್ ಫ್ರಂ ಗ್ವಂಟಾನಮೋ: ದ ಡಿಟೈನೀಸ್ ಸ್ಪೀಕ್

ಇದು ಗ್ವಂಟಾನಮೋದಲ್ಲಿನ ಹದಿನೇಳು ಸೆರೆಯಾಳುಗಳ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೆರಡು ಪದ್ಯಗಳ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಪುಸ್ತಕ. ಈಗಷ್ಟೇ ಪ್ರಕಟಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಇದರ ಸಂಪಾದಕ ಬಂಧಿತರ ಲಾಯರ್ನಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದಾತ. ಅವರು ಬರೆದ ಪದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕದ್ದು ಹೊರಗೆ ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ತಂದಾತ. ಈಗ ಪೆಂಟಗಾನ್ ಒಪ್ಪಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಪದ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾತ್ರ
ಈ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
ಇಷ್ಟು ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಗ್ವಂಟಾನಮೋದ ನೀರವ ಮೌನದಿಂದ ಹೊರಬಂದಿರುವ ಒಂದೇ ದನಿ ಇದು.
ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಈ ಒಂದು ಪದ್ಯದ ಕವಿ ಬಹರೇನಿನ 33 ವರ್ಷದ ಜಮ್ಹಾ ಅಲ್ ದೊಸರಿ. ೨೦೦೧ರಿಂದ ಗ್ವಂಟಾನಮೋದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ಕೇಸಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಸೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಈತ ಹತ್ತಾರು ಬಾರಿ ಜೀವ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
ಈತನಿಗೆ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಮಗಳಿದ್ದಾಳೆ. ತಂದೆ ಮಾರಣಾಂತಿಕ ಬೇನೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಸಾಯುವ ಮುಂಚೆ ಮಗನನ್ನು ನೋಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಹಂಬಲಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
ಅನುವಾದವನ್ನು ಬರೆದು ಹಾಕುವ ಬದಲು ಹೇಳಬೇಕು, ನೀವು ಕೇಳಬೇಕು ಅನಿಸಿದೆ.

Got very disturbed after listening to the recital. Till date, ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ which says a similar line of story, remains my favourite movie. You must also read Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s novella ‘One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich’. That little banned-in-Russia book influenced me considerably. I am left speechless after seeing this post.

ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆಗೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಥ್ಯಾಂಕ್ಸ್. ಸೋಲ್ಸನಿಟ್ಸಿನ್ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಓದುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ಅದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕೇಳಿದ್ದರೂ ಇಷ್ಟು ದಿನ ಓದಲಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
ಮನಕಲಕುವ ಕವಿತೆ ನೀವು ಓದಿರುವ ರೀತಿಯೇ ಗಾಢವಾಗಿ ತಟ್ಟುತ್ತದೆ.

ಕವಿ ಬಹರೇನಿನವನು. ಮೂಲ ಅರಾಬಿಕ್ನಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ನಾನು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷಿನಿಂದ ಅನುವಾದಿಸಿಕೊಂಡದ್ದು. ಆ ಪುಸ್ತಕದ ಮುನ್ನುಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೀಗಿದೆ-
